Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
The Ubuntu team is very pleased to announce the release of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Long-Term Support). Code-named ‘Precise Pangolin’, 12.04 continues Ubuntu’s proud tradition of integrating the latest and greatest open source technologies into a high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution. The team has been hard at work through this cycle, introducing a few new features and improving quality control. For PC users, Ubuntu 12.04 supports laptops, desktops, and netbooks with a unified look and feel based on an updated version of the desktop shell called ‘Unity’, which introduces ‘Head-Up Display’ search capabilities.
Ubuntu is a community developed, linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need – a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more.
This VMWare image lets you try it out without installing it or even rebooting your machine, and works in the Free VMWare player.

I’m always pleased to see a new LTS release from Ubuntu. I am also a fan of http://lubuntu.net/ (lUbuntu) due to its use of LXDE which is a lightweight window manager. Especially good for netbooks, laptops, or anyone wants a change from Unity / Gnome3.
