Frequently Asked Questions

How do I uncompress a .7z (7zip) file?

Windows:

On windows, I would highly recommend using 7-zip. This is what I use to compress the files, on my main workstation to compress the files.

Linux:

I use p7zip

OS X:

On OSX Keka.  It appears, to be the most fully developed option, on OS X, is available from the  Mac App Store.

Can I use these on [Virtualization Platform]?

ESXi/vSphere:

vSphere just returns: Unknown (invalid)

This is apparently due to the split vmdks.  Will test if running it through vCenter Converter Standalone will fix this issue.

VirtualBox:

Unfortunately no, VirtualBox does not support the split files that I have been using since starting vmplanet.  On a brighter note though, for my fans, that use VirtualBox, I have started to create VirtualBox images, of some of the more popular distributions.
